National Assembly Standing Delegation to CSTO PA Takes Part in Meetings of Standing Commissions

The members of the National Assembly’s standing delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO PA) took part in the 2 March 2021 online meetings of the CSTO PA Standing Commission on Defence and Security, Standing Commission on Political Affairs and International Cooperation and the Standing Commission on Socio-Economic and Legal Issues.


The Head of the National Assembly’s standing delegation to CSTO PA MA Milovan Drecun took part in the work of the Standing Commission on Defence and Security. He informed the members of the Commission that, on 28 January 2021, the National Assembly had ratified the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Russian Federation on Cooperation in the Fight Against Terrorism.

The meeting of the Standing Commission on Political Affairs and International Cooperation, attended by delegation member Jovan Palalic, discussed the priorities of the Republic of Tajikistan’s 2021 Presidency of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation, results of the CSTO Council session on collective security and the state and development trends of the international political situation in the area of responsibility of the CSTO.

Member of the standing delegation Jovan Palalic addressed the participants of the meeting, saying that, in 2007, the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia adopted the Resolution on the Protection of Sovereignty, Territorial Integrity and Constitutional Order, accompanied by a decision to declare military neutrality. He emphasised that due to global movements relating to security in the world, the security policy of the Republic of Serbia is based on an integral and multilateral approach to security. He opined that the Republic of Serbia is expanding and deepening the existing level of cooperation with the CSTO in order to contribute to global stability and security, in accordance with the policy of military neutrality.

Delegation member Dusan Bajatovic took part in the work of the Standing Commission on Socio-Economic and Legal Issues. The meeting focused on draft recommendations for improving the national legislation of CSTO member states concerning unwanted migration, as well as the issue of financing the activities of the Parliamentary Assembly.
