National Assembly Standing Delegation at PACE Autumn Session

The National Assembly’s standing delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), will be taking part in the organisation’s regular autumn session in Strasburg, from 30 September to 4 October 2013.


The parliamentary delegation will be headed by the Head of the National Assembly’s standing delegation to PACE, Aleksandra Djurovic and will comprise Stefana Miladinovic, Natasa Vuckovic, Vesna Marjanovic, Milos Aligrudic, Vladimir Ilic and Svetislava Bulajic.

The plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly will be addressed by the President of the Republic of Serbia, Tomislav Nikolic, President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and the Speaker of the Russian State Duma, Sergey Naryshkin.

The session will focus on national security and access to information, the functioning of democratic institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and physical integrity of children. There has been a request for an urgent debate on the situation in Syria.

OECD Secretary General Angel Gurría will address the Assembly in the framework of an annual debate on the OECD’s activities, while Peter Maurer, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, will speak in a debate on missing persons from Europe’s conflicts.

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, Chairperson of the Committee of Ministers, will present the traditional communication to the Assembly and answer members’ questions. Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland is also due to address the parliamentarians.

On the first day of the session, a ceremony will also be held to award the first ever Václav Havel Human Rights Prize, which rewards outstanding civil society action in defence of human rights in Europe and beyond.
