National Assembly Standing Delegation at NATO PA 60th Annual Session

The National Assembly’s standing delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly took part in the NATO PA 60th annual session, 21-24 November 2014, in The Hague.

The delegation comprising Branislav Blazic, Aleksandar Radojevic, Dubravka Filipovski and Dejan Radenkovic was headed by Dragan Sormaz.
The National Assembly’s standing delegation to the NATO PA took part in the work of the committees, while at the plenary session the participants were addressed by NATO Secretary General Jan Stoltenberg, followed by the parliamentarians’ questions and comments.
The Head of the National Assembly’s standing delegation to the NATO PA, Dragan Sormaz had an intervention to the address of the Head of the Albanian parliamentary delegation Jozefina Topalli who asked Secretary General Stoltenberg about the joint military exercises of the Serbian and Russian armed forces and whether the claim that Russia was assisting Serbian armed forces was true.
Regarding Jozefina Topalli’s statement, the Head of the National Assembly’s standing delegation Dragan Sormaz said that the Albanian colleagues are not in possession of accurate information on Serbia and Russia’s activities and that these are in fact preparations for Serbia/US joint military exercises.
On the occasion Jan Stoltenberg stressed that Serbia is a sovereign country which decided by itself how it would cooperate with other countries and that NATO considers the Western Balkans region very important and therefore considers cooperation with Serbia very important. He said NATO was ready to expand cooperation with Serbia listing a great many fields where cooperation between Serbia and NATO could stand to be improved.
