National Assembly Speaker in Terezin at International Holocaust Remembrance Day Commemoration
National Assembly Speaker Maja Gojkovic attended the commemoration and unveiling of the memorial to the victims of the holocaust in Terezin near Prague, today, 27 January, International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
The participants of the roundtable, 30 parliament speakers, adopted a Declaration on Combating Anti-Semitism and Hate Crimes, expressing concern at the rise in anti-Semitism and urging parliaments, governments, international organisations and civil societies around the world to adopt a zero-tolerance policy for anti-Semitism
Gojkovic said that keeping the memory of the victims of the holocaust alive and preserving the dignity of the victims of this horrific crime and the survivors is an extremely important task which includes continuing the memory of the victims through the education system and the adoption and enforcement of laws.
The commemoration of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day in Prague was attended by the parliamentary speakers of Israel, UK, Belgium, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Estonia, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Romania, Switzerland, Turkey, Luxembourg, Malta, Cyprus, France, Ireland, Latvia, Hungary, Germany, Netherlands, Russia, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia and Albania.
