National Assembly Speaker Visits Tohoku Region
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic Dejanovic, currently in visit to Japan at the invitation of the Speaker of the Japanese Parliament’s Lower House Takahiro Yokomichi, visited the Tohoku region, ravaged by the earthquake and tsunami in March of this year.

Mayor Sasaki said that in the catastrophe that struck Natori, a town with a population of 70 000, 991 people died and 30 have not been located yet, while the tsunami also swept away 3000 houses. National Assembly Speaker Djukic Dejanovic expressed her condolences to and admiration for the Japanese people’s dignity and enthusiasm with which they are rebuilding the afflicted area.
