Djukic Dejanovic visited Sendai, a city in the north-east of the island of Honshu, which was closest to the epicenter of the destructive earthquake, as well as Natori, a fishing town devastated by the tsunami in the wake of the earthquake. The National Assembly Speaker, followed by the mayor of Natori Iso Sasaki, laid flowers at the memorial to the victims of the earthquake and tsunami.

Mayor Sasaki said that in the catastrophe that struck Natori, a town with a population of 70 000, 991 people died and 30 have not been located yet, while the tsunami also swept away 3000 houses. National Assembly Speaker Djukic Dejanovic expressed her condolences to and admiration for the Japanese people’s dignity and enthusiasm with which they are rebuilding the afflicted area.

The delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia visiting Japan and lead by the Speaker Slavica Djukic Dejanovic, comprises MP Aleksandar Vlahovic, Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Japan, MP Nenad Prokic, member of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Japan and Veljko Odalovic, National Assembly Secretary General.
