The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received a delegation of the attendants of the political education project for young people from Kosovo-Metohija. The project was organised in cooperation with the Local Communities’ Development Centre from Kosovska Mitrovica and Serbian National Council from Zagreb and it includes the students’ familiarisation with the work of the supreme legislative body in the Republic of Serbia.

The delegation members briefed Assembly Speaker Djukic-Dejanovic and National Assembly Secretary Veljko Odalovic on the Academy for the Future project which includes the members of the Serbian community in Kosovo-Metohija, adding that they see themselves as the future community leaders. The Academy aims to educate and train those interested so that they can contribute to the survival, institutionlisation and development of the community.

Talking to the guests, the Assembly Speaker spoke about the work of the highest legislative body and the tasks this and other institutions perform in order to strengthen the country’s state and national interests. She added that the Republic of Serbia is doing all in its power to improve the living conditions and ensure the safety of Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija.

Talking to the future young politicians, the Assembly Speaker stressed the importance of education and political maturity for their growth into mature and decisive politicians.

Addressing those present, National Assembly Secretary Veljko Odalovic pointed out the significance of affirmation of young people from Kosovo-Metohija for the Serbian community, as they shall be the bearers of the new beginning and better future prospects for the community in Kosovo-Metohija.

During the visit, the delegation also toured the National Assembly House.
