The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received today the Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, Hans Ola Urstad, with whom she spoke of the future cooperation between the National Assembly and this international organisation.

The OSCE Mission Head said that cooperation with the National Assembly represents an important segment in the Mission’s work and expressed his expectation that the so far successful cooperation will continue.

He stressed that OSCE will continue to realise the programme of introducing the parliamentarians and Parliament employees to the mode of operation of European institutions and other activities concerning Serbia’s accession to the European Union. With this goal in mind, in cooperation with the Government’s Integration Office, the Mission aided the printing of a handbook for the deputies.

Hans Ola Urstad proposed that at the beginning of next year a series of seminars from the area of defense be organised for the deputies and National Assembly employees. The agenda for the seminars, which should be realised by the end of March, would contain four topics: reform of the military and defense systems, the police, security-information services and planning in the defense sector.

The National Assembly Speaker deemed useful the cooperation with the OSCE Mission realised via the Parliamentary Support Programme.
