The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received today the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Serbia, H.E. Kim Jonghae.

Assembly Speaker Djukic-Dejanovic and Ambassador Jonghae talked about improving parliamentary, as well as cultural, economic and political cooperation between Serbia and the Republic of Korea.

Ambassador Jonghae briefed the National Assembly Speaker on the activities the Korean Embassy shall undertake to commemorate the twentieth anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries, as well as the upcoming visit of the Republic of Korea special envoy to Serbia. He stressed that the visit of the Korean president’s envoy shall contribute to strengthen and deepen the cooperation between the two countries and emphasised the importance of changing Serbia’s image in both Korea and the whole world. He estimated that Serbia’s entry into the European Union is just a matter of time and expressed his hope that Serbia shall become its full-fledged member in the near future.

Assembly Speaker Djukic-Dejanovic briefed Ambassador Jonghae on the results of the National Assembly’s work, stressing that European Union membership is Serbia’s main foreign policy goal, but so is cooperation with other countries with which Serbia builds and fosters friendly relations. She stated that cooperation between Serbia and Republic of Korea offers a large spectrum of possibilities, adding that cooperation between their two parliaments can prove very fruitful. She reaffirmed that strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries contributes to strengthen their democracies, deeming the sharing of experiences between Serbian and Korean parliamentarians as essential.
