National Assembly Speaker Talks to Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency Delegation

Today, the National Assembly Speaker, MA Nebojsa Stefanovic, received the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nebojsa Radmanovic and Bakir Izetbegovic, member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in official visit to the Republic of Serbia.

Speaker Stefanovic welcomed the delegation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, stressing that Serbia is committed to improving parliamentary, and especially economic cooperation. He stated that the National Assembly would, through its upcoming legislative activity, support the improvement of economic cooperation between the two countries, especially in the spheres of agriculture and joint ventures onto third markets.
The Parliament Speaker emphasised the existence of political will to strengthen judiciary institutions and zero tolerance for corruption and crime, all of which is aimed at regaining the citizens’ trust in the institutions and attracting foreign investors.
In the course of the meeting, Stefanovic thanked Bosnia and Herzegovina for its principled support and non-recognition of Kosovo-Metohija.
Both sides agreed that the reform process and acceptance of European standards are important for the two countries’ efforts to improve the living conditions of their citizens.
They agreed that political will is essential for improving regional cooperation and resolving open issues, because these are practical issues and goals deciding people’s destinies.
The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nebojsa Radmanovic, declared the relations between Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina better and endorsed the two countries’ joint projects. He invited the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The officials agreed that the cooperation between the two parliaments could be better and that issues of mutual interest should be discussed in international organisations both Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina are members of.
Bakir Izetbegovic, member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, said that peace is crucial for attracting foreign investment to the region, and supported the negotiations between Serbia and Pristina, stressing that it is up to us, if we interpret our interests correctly, to make sure there are fewer disagreements and more agreements.
Izetbegovic and Radmanovic supported Serbia’s progress to the European Union, and all agreed that both Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina are committed to joining the European Union – a process everybody should take part in.
