The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic, received the newly-appointed Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Serbia, H.E. Abolghasem Delfi, at the National Assembly House.

In the meeting, the relations between the two countries were declared to have a rich and long tradition providing a good basis for the improvement of overall bilateral cooperation.

The favourable cooperation between Serbia and Iran in international organisations and forums was emphasised as well.

During the meeting, it was estimated that parliamentary cooperation should be intensified which could stimulate the development of cooperation in all other spheres, and particularly on the economic plane.

Speaker Djukic-Dejanovic thanked Ambassador Delfi on the principled position the Islamic Republic of Iran had taken on the issue of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia.
