National Assembly Speaker Receives “Darinka Radovic” Plaque

A delegation of the Municipal Committee of Topola SUBNOR (Union of Associations of Veterans of People's Liberation War) presented the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic Dejanovic with the “Darinka Radovic” Plaque.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Serbian people’s uprising against the fascist occupiers and 115 years since the birth of Darinka Radovic from Rajkovac, Yugoslavian National Hero, at its sitting on 4 August 2011, the Topola SUBNOR decided to establish the “Darinka Radovic” Plaque for contributions to the affirmation of women’s rights, patriotism and humanitarianism, humaneness and dedication in all types of social and economic activities.

Having been established, the plaque was, for the first time, awarded by the Topola SUBNOR to National Assembly Speaker Slavica Djukic Dejanovic as a proved humanitarian, woman at the highest position of political power in Serbian society and proponent of women’s rights in Serbia. The National Assembly Speaker expressed her gratitude for the honour, stressing the importance of cultivating the anti-fascist tradition because, she said, only a people who respect their tradition can contribute to the future of Europe and the world.

According to the decision of the Topola SUBNOR, the “Darinka Radovic” Plaque will be awarded to deserving women from the Municipality of Topola, on 8 March, International Women’s Day, every year.
