National Assembly Speaker Receives Union Representatives
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic receives the representatives of the Serbian Health Care and Social Welfare Employees Union, at their request, who informed her of their objections and reasons to withdraw the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Salaries in State Departments and Public Services from procedure.
The Union representatives believe that the adoption of the Bill would result in a significant reduction of salaries of health care employees, which have, as they said, already realistically been reduced by 30%.
Djukic-Dejanovic sympathised with the health care employees’ position since she herself is a doctor. She said that the National Assembly did not have the right to withdraw said Bill from procedure as only the submitter may do so, which in this case is the Government.
