National Assembly Speaker Receives Union Bank of Switzerland Delegation

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Nebojsa Stefanovic received a delegation of 28 clients, potential investors, of the Union Bank of Switzerland (UBS), and Swiss Ambassador Jean-Daniel Ruch.

The UBS clients wanted to find out how attractive a destination Serbia would be for possible future investment and learned about Serbia’s potential.
Speaker Stefanovic stressed he hoped the visit would motivate and send a message to all investors to strengthen economic relations with Serbia, as well as an invitation for an exchange of experience and best practice.
The Assembly Speaker briefed the delegation on Serbia’s investment opportunities, pointing out its excellent conditions for investment into agriculture, information technologies and energy production.
Speaker Stefanovic invited the investors to open a business dialogue with Serbian partners and confirm the country’s great but insufficiently used potential, which the Swiss guests agreed with.
Stefanovic listed the country’s many advantages such as the favourable tax system, qualified workforce and financial stimulation for foreign investment. He opined that Serbia, as the region’s political, economic and expert center, has excellent potential for sustainable development, economic prosperity and all types of business innovations.
In the course of the meeting, the Assembly Speaker stressed that the fight against corruption and crime, as well as the rule of law are the crucial elements of Serbia’s progress to the EU. That is exactly, he opined, what opens the doors to potential investors, making them feel safe and secure on this market.
He also pointed out the free trade agreement with the EU, Russia and other countries, as well as the considerable potential for investment into renewable energy sources, transport infrastructure, etc.
Speaker Stefanovic wished the Swiss guests to enjoy Serbia and find in it the economic interest for investment.
