Today at the National Assembly House, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic, received separately the newly-appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Italy to Serbia, H. E. Armando Varricchio and in a farewell visit, H. E. Anatoliy Oliynyk, Ukrainian Ambassador to Serbia.

The newly-appointed Italian Ambassador to Serbia and the National Assembly Speaker agreed in their estimate that furthering cooperation between the two parliaments is of the utmost importance for Serbia’s active engagement on the road to European integration. It was stressed that parliamentary diplomacy is currently an increasingly relevant form of dialogue in international politics and represents a foundation for future cooperation between Italy and Serbia on all levels.

The National Assembly Speaker expressed her belief that parliamentary cooperation will continue and be raised to a higher level.

In a separate meeting, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received H. E. Anatoliy Oliynyk, Ukrainian Ambassador to Serbia, in a farewell visit.

The officials shared information and experience of the work and activities of the Serbian and Ukrainian parliaments. They agreed that interparliamentary cooperation via friendship groups and cooperation of assembly bodies is a good way to bring the parliaments closer together.

Ambassador Oliynyk expressed his pleasure and gratitude to Serbia for the excellent organization of the Belgrade Universiade, in which Ukrainian student sportsmen also took part.
