National Assembly Speaker Receives Hungarian Ambassador

National Assembly Speaker Nebojsa Stefanovic received H.E. Oszkár Nikowitz, Hungarian Ambassador to Serbia, at his request.


The Hungarian Ambassador thanked for the reception and conveyed the congratulations of the Hungarian Parliament, at the same time presenting the National Assembly Speaker with an invitation letter and expressing a wish that a framework cooperation agreement might be signed in the course of the visit to Budapest. Ambassador Nikowitz stressed that Hungary considers the relations with Serbia a priority and strategic foreign policy goal, “on the new foundations of historic reconciliation”, considering the importance of parliamentary relations for the improvement of overall bilateral cooperation. The Hungarian side lends continuous support to Serbia’s Euro-integration process and expresses a clear intention to “oppose any unfavourable representation of Serbia”.
The National Assembly Speaker was pleased at the meeting and accepted the invitation to visit Hungary, particularly in view of the importance of regional cooperation within which Serbia’s cooperation with Hungary has an exceptional significance. Speaker Stefanovic urged for a further development of political, cultural and especially economic cooperation and thanked for the support of Serbia’s Euro-integration process. He stressed that the Serbian side considers interparliamentary cooperation very important in the context of overall relations and the removal of any potential misunderstanding a common interest.
