National Assembly Speaker Receives Czech Ambassador to Serbia

National Assembly Speaker Nebojsa Stefanovic received H.E. Hana Hubackova, Czech Ambassador.

The Czech Ambassador thanked the National Assembly Speaker for the reception and congratulated him on his election, emphasising the importance of interparliamentary cooperation for overall bilateral relations. As one of the more significant fields of parliamentary activity, she drew attention to the Euro-integration process deeming that Serbia has at its disposal the capacities to continue the process.
Speaker Stefanovic expressed pleasure at the meeting and readiness to strengthen bilateral cooperation, particularly on the interparliamentary level where the intensity of the activities does not correspond to good bilateral relations. As regards interparliamentary cooperation, he stressed exchanging experiences as the optimum tool for strengthening the priority fields in the National Assembly’s work, such as the Parliament’s supervisory function and Europe-integration process.
He also urged for other types of cooperation in the sectors of agriculture and energy production, as well as in the domain of cultural cooperation and in that context offered the Serbian Parliament to host a cultural event organised by the Czech side.
Ambassador Hubackova deemed the two countries overall relations excellent, based on understanding between the people, she deemed economic bilateral relations as good, adding that there is room for further development. She informed the Speaker of the upcoming visit of the Czech Government in December 2012, adding that the visit should stimulate the fields of particular interest for the Czech side: agriculture, energy production and environmental protection.
Both officials opined that friendship groups in the two countries’ respective parliaments would significantly boost parliamentary cooperation and they agreed, in principle, on reciprocal visits of the two parliament speakers next year.
