National Assembly Speaker Received Egyptian Ambassador

Today, at the National Assembly House, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received the newly-appointed Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, H. E. Aly Galal Abdelaziz Mohamed Bassiouny. In the meeting, Bassiouny said that during his term of office he would make it his priority to strengthen the contacts between the two countries on the highest level, as well as improve parliamentary cooperation.



Today, at the National Assembly House, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received the newly-appointed Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, H.E. Aly Galal Abdelaziz Mohamed Bassiouny.

In the meeting, Bassiouny said that during his term of office he would make it his priority to strengthen the contacts between the two countries on the highest level, as well as improve parliamentary cooperation. He believes that both sides are willing to strengthen the traditionally friendly relations, evidenced in Egypt’s full support of Serbia’s proposal that the 50th anniversary summit of the Non-Aligned be held in Belgrade. Ambassador Bassiouny also extended his deepest sympathy for the tragic traffic accident that happened in Egypt.

The National Assembly Speaker expressed her gratitude for everything the Egyptian people had done for the Serbian citizens in the moments following the tragic traffic accident. Assembly Speaker Djukic-Dejanovic thanked Ambassador Bassiouny for Egypt’s principled stand on Serbia’s territorial integrity, as well as its support of the initiative to have the issue of Kosovo-Metohija transferred from the political to the sphere of international law. The Assembly Speaker stated that Serbia’s main goals are strengthening the country’s state and national interest, intensifying all activities regarding the accession to the European Union, improvement of the social status of its citizens and fighting crime. The Assembly Speaker proposed that a protocol on cooperation be signed as part of their parliamentary cooperation, which would present a good model for future cooperation with other countries of the Arab world.
