The 60th plenary session of the General Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC), gathering the representatives of the parliaments of all 13 of the member states was opened today in Belgrade, hosted for the third time by the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.
“This session is an invaluable opportunity for open and constructive dialogue, exchange of opinions and ideas, for the benefit of all of our countries and citizens", said the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and PABSEC President Dr Vladimir Orlic at the opening ceremony. "Commitment to peace, stability and dialogue are the basic postulates from which the Republic of Serbia, led by President Aleksandar Vucic, will not deviate, which has been recognised and acknowledged in the world, as well as embodied in the concrete benefits for our country and our people - economic growth and development, reduced unemployment rate, greater inflow of direct foreign investments. We wish these and similar results to everyone else," said Dr Orlic.
He pointed out that the main topic of the General Debate, the role of parliaments and interparliamentary cooperation in stimulating economic growth, is important for the Black Sea region and beyond. He expressed his belief that the work done at the 60th General Assembly would result in concrete contributions to all the issues discussed at it, and confirmed the readiness of the NARS standing delegation to continue with its regular participation in committee meetings and plenary sessions. "On our side, you will always find genuine openness to strengthening friendly relations and readiness for an additional improvement of cooperation with all the PABSEC member states", concluded the National Assembly Speaker.
PABSEC Vice-President and Head of the NARS standing delegation MA Igor Becic read a message by the President of the Republic of Serbia Alerksandar Vucic, with First Deputy Prime Minister in charge of foreign policy and security and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic, as well as PABSEC Secretary General Asaf Hajiyev also addressed the attending.
The closing ceremony of the 60th General Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation will be held on Thursday, 8 December 2022, when the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey will assume the presidency of the organisation.
