National Assembly Speaker Meets with Russian State Duma International Affairs Committee Chairman

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic met today with the Chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Leonid Slutsky.

National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic stressed that the relations between the two countries are characterised by mutual understanding and trust, thanking Russia for its strong and active support in the defence of national interests. He expressed hope that the strategic relations between the two countries would continue to develop in all fields after the elections in Serbia.

The officials focused on bilateral parliamentary cooperation and organisational issues concerning the upcoming visit of the Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin to Serbia, which was postponed to March due to the epidemiological situation.

Responding to the guest’s questions, National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic informed Mr Slutsky about the results of the republic referendum and the upcoming parliamentary, presidential and local elections in Serbia, planned for 3 April 2022.
