National Assembly Speaker Meets with Russian Federation’s State Duma Speaker

National Assembly Speaker Maja Gojkovic received an official delegation of the Russian Federation’s State Duma, headed by the State Duma Speaker Sergey Naryshkin.


The meeting focused on interparliamentary, economic and cultural cooperation. The two parliament speakers agreed that the two countries enjoy a high level of cooperation and that they would continue to promote and improve it. The National Assembly Speaker said she was pleased by the high-level visit which is further proof of the two countries friendly relations.
The officials highlighted the two parliaments’ role in developing economic cooperation. The National Assembly Speaker announced the adoption of economic laws which would improve the investment climate in Serbia.
They also underlined the significance of the meeting in light of the 100th anniversary of World War One.
The meeting was attended by National Assembly Deputy Speakers Veroljub Arsic and MA Igor Becic and representatives of the National Assembly’s working bodies: Milovan Drecun, Irena Vujovic, Zoran Babic, Dragomir Karic, Aleksandra Djurovic, Marija Obradovic and Dr Aleksandra Tomic. On the behalf of the Russian delegation the meeting was attended by the Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Chepurin, State Duma First Deputy Speaker Ivan Melnikov and the chairpersons and deputy chairpersons of the State Duma’s committees.
