National Assembly Speaker Meets with Newly Elected President of Venezuela

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabic met last night in Caracas with the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro.

The meeting of Brnabic and Maduro followed his inauguration in Caracas, which Brnabic attended earlier in the day. The National Assembly Speaker congratulated President Maduro, wishing him a successful mandate.

She conveyed messages from the President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic emphasizing the importance of strengthening political dialogue and deepening cooperation between Serbia and Venezuela, accompanied by the mutual interest in furthering friendly relations.

The Parliament Speaker thanked President Maduro for Venezuela's support of Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as for the statement of the Permanent Representative to the UN in the General Assembly in May 2024, providing strong support for the positions of the Republic of Serbia regarding the resolution on Srebrenica.

She added that Serbia is committed to deepening cooperation with Venezuela in all sectors of mutual interest, saying that Venezuela's participation in the 46th International Tourism Fair in Belgrade in February is very important for cooperation in the field of tourism.

President Maduro thanked President Aleksandar Vucic, whom he considers a great friend of Venezuela and its people, for the heartfelt congratulations and messages. He stressed that cooperation between the two countries at all levels is extremely important.

He particularly emphasised cooperation in the field of tourism. He also added that EXPO 2027 represents an excellent opportunity to advance our economic cooperation and that Venezuela will be pleased to participate in this exhibition, hosted by Belgrade.
