National Assembly Speaker Meets with Macedonian President

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic, currently in official visit to Macedonia, met today with the President of Macedonia Gjorge Ivanov and discussed the two countries’ relations, Euro-integration and regional cooperation.


Gojkovic and Ivanov agreed that the relations between Serbia and Macedonia are excellent and show ample potential for further development in various fields, especially economy.

Gojkovic said that Serbia is committed to Euro-integration and expects that the European Union would recognize its efforts and the progress it has achieved.

Ivanov said that European integration is equally important for Serbia and Macedonia, and the region as a whole, adding that it was important to turn to economy and development of economic relations.

Gojkovic briefed Ivanov on the specific agreements aimed at strengthening interparliamentary cooperation between Serbia and Macedonia, especially in the process of Euro-integration, taking the opportunity to say this was the first time in five years that the Serbian Assembly Speaker is visiting the Macedonia.

Yesterday, Gojkovic met with the President of the Macedonian Assembly Trajko Veljanoski, at whose invitation she was visiting the country, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski and the Chair of the Macedonian Parliamentary Friendship Group with Serbia Emil Dimitriev and PFG members.
