National Assembly Speaker Meets with Head of OSCE Mission to Serbia

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabic met today with the Head of the OSCE Mission in Serbia Jan Braathu.

Brnabic and Braathu discussed establishing cooperation between the National Assembly and the OSCE in several spheres, such as setting up a Green Resource Centre, accessibility of the National Assembly for persons with disabilities and training the support service members who assist the work of the parliamentary groups.

The Parliament Speaker stressed that she fully supports all OSCE projects which will lead to the strengthening of parliamentarism in Serbia and the inclusiveness of the country's supreme legislative institution. Ambassador Braathu said that these are precisely the goals that the OSCE Mission wants to achieve in cooperation with the National Assembly, which makes the Speaker’s support in their implementation of vital importance.

Speaking about the idea of setting up a Green Resource Centre, Brnabic pointed out that it is good that environmental protection has become an important topic in our society. The Green Resource Centre would provide access to scientifically based facts and greatly help the debate in the parliament, which will ultimately benefit all the citizens of Serbia.

Brnabic thanked Braathu for all the support the OSCE provides to Serbia, adding that she is happy that, as the Assembly Speaker, she has the opportunity to strengthen parliamentary cooperation with this institution. Ambassador Braathu underlined that the OSCE will work diligently with the National Assembly to implement all the planned projects as quickly as possible and thereby contribute to a more efficient and better functioning of the parliament.
