National Assembly Speaker Meets with European Parliament Rapporteur on Serbia
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic met today with the European Parliament Rapporteur on Serbia David McAllister, currently visiting Serbia in preparation of the EP resolution on Serbia’s progress in 2014.
Gojkovic emphasised the significant role the National Assembly plays in the accession process, adding that the parliament’s role is active and meaningful.
McAllister said that the opening of the negotiations chapters this year would be a positive signal for Serbia which, he added, has achieved progress.
He said that the National Assembly’s consensus as regards Serbia’s EU membership is very important for the Euro-integration process.
The meeting was attended by the Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia, Michael Davenport. After the meeting with Speaker Gojkovic, McAllister will also meet with the members of the European Integration Committee and the heads of the parliamentary groups at the National Assembly.
