National Assembly Speaker Meets with Algerian People’s National Assembly Speaker

National Assembly Speaker Maja Gojkovic met today with the Speaker of the People’s National Assembly of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Mohamed Larbi Ould Khelifa, currently in a three-day visit to Serbia.


Gojkovic and Khelifa agreed that the two countries enjoy traditionally good and friendly relations and that the visit would contribute to the intensification of parliamentary cooperation, as well as cooperation in other fields, economy in particular.
Gojkovic thanked Khelifa for Algeria’s principled non-recognition of the self-proclaimed independence of Kosovo-Metohija.
The National Assembly Speaker also thanked Algeria for its assistance in the floods in Serbia as the country had allocated considerable funds to revitalise the riverbeds.
The Algerian Parliament Speaker said that there is ample room to intensify cooperation in the fields of hydropower, construction, military cooperation and public works.
The meeting was attended by National Assembly deputy speakers Veroljub Arsic and Igor Becic and Head of the Serbian Progressive Party parliamentary club Zoran Babic.
