National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic Meets with Iranian Ambassador

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic met today with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran Rashid Hassan Pour Baei.

Ambassador Hassan Pour congratulated the National Assembly Speaker on taking office and conveyed the greetings of the new Speaker of the Parliament of Iran, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. He stressed that relations between Serbia and Iran are on the rise which Ivica Dacic significantly contributed to during his tenure as foreign minister. He reminded the host of Iran's support as regards the Kosovo-Metohija issue and its commitment to the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity.

National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic thanked the guest, expressing his readiness to continue the cooperation with Iran in his new position by strengthening parliamentary cooperation. He thanked Iran for its principled position and non-recognition of Kosovo's unilaterally declared independence.

The officials agreed that the relations between Serbia and Iran are good and should be developed further, adding that there is ample room to improve cooperation especially in the fields of economy and agriculture. They agreed that contacts would intensify after the epidemic and the National Assembly Speaker accepted the invitation to pay a visit to Iran.
