National Assembly Speaker Congratulates Women’s Day

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia congratulated all the women of Serbia their holiday, Women’s day, 8 March.

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia congratulated all the women of Serbia their holiday, Women’s day, 8 March.

“With their knowledge, understanding and perseverance women contribute to the creation of a better society and its overall development.

Most believe that 8 March is the only day when women should be treated with particular attention. However, the male half of our community should treat their wives, mothers, sisters and co-workers with due respect, the date commemorated in the whole world notwithstanding. That would best confirm one of the basic tenets of the UN Charter and Serbian Constitution, that of the equality between women and men.

I am convinced that the realisation of the role of women as bearers of progress, as well as preservers of tradition, in public and private life, reflects the implementation of the basic principles of democracy in Serbia.”
