National Assembly Speaker Ana Brnabic Meets with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabic met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov.


The officials stressed that the relations between Serbia and Azerbaijan are based on long-standing friendship, mutual trust and adherence to the fundamental principles of international law. This partnership is further confirmed by intensive political dialogue and frequent meetings between the officials of the two countries.

Speaker Brnabic emphasized the importance of furthering parliamentary relations. "We believe that parliamentary cooperation is of exceptional importance, and it is realised through a regular exchange of visits between speakers of national parliaments, members of parliament and delegations," stressed the National Assembly Speaker.

In the course of the meeting the officials discussed important joint projects in the fields of energy, the green agenda and tourism which contribute to strengthening bilateral cooperation. In this context, Minister Bayramov expressed support for Serbia's candidacy to host the specialised international exhibition EXPO 2027, stressing that it would be an excellent opportunity to further promote innovative and sustainable solutions.

They also emphasised the importance of cooperation in the field of climate change, which was confirmed by the participation of the President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic at the COP29 Climate Change Summit in Baku, where he met with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.

They also spoke about the role of bilateral relations in addressing global challenges, with Brnabic expressing her belief that her upcoming visit to Baku will be an opportunity to further strengthen cooperation not only in the area of parliamentary, but also that of overall bilateral relations.

Serbia and Azerbaijan continue to strengthen their friendly ties through concrete activities and initiatives, reaffirming their commitment to shared values and advancing cooperation at all levels.
