National Assembly Deputy Speaker Veroljub Arsic Talks to Montenegrin MP Nebojsa Medojevic
National Assembly Deputy Speaker Veroljub Arsic met today, at the National Assembly House, with Montenegrin MP Nebojsa Medojevic.
Medojevic expressed sympathy at the natural disaster that struck Serbia and the many flood victims. He informed National Assembly Deputy Speaker Veroljub Arsic that he would launch an initiative to set up parliamentary cooperation among the countries in the region aimed at protecting all the countries in the region from natural disasters. Medojevic suggested that this type of cooperation should be developed primarily between the National Assembly’s Defence and Internal Affairs Committee and the Montenegrin Parliament’s Security and Defence Committee, which he is a member of, and via cooperation of the countries in the region within the parliamentary dimension of the South East Europe Cooperation Process.
National Assembly Deputy Speaker Veroljub Arsic opined that regional cooperation on the matter is of common interest for all the countries in the region, stressing that prevention of natural disasters of this magnitude calls for a good warning system and cooperation between the relevant services of the countries in the region.
The officials are sure that launching parliamentary cooperation among the countries in the region would motivate the governments of said countries to regulate the matter at the highest state level via cooperation between the government sectors in charge of emergency situations.
