National Assembly Deputy Speaker Talks to Romanian Senate’s Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman

National Assembly Deputy Speaker Nikola Novakovic met with the Chairman of the Romanian Senate’s Foreign Affairs Committee Titus Corlatean, in official visit to the Republic of Serbia.

Greeting the guest, Deputy Speaker Novakovic stressed that there is no issue that Romania and Serbia cannot discuss and that cannot be resolved to their mutual satisfaction. Novakovic reminded the guests that the first official visit to the National Assembly in the current convocation was paid in 2008 by the former Romanian parliament speaker, thus opening the doors to future cooperation between the parliaments.

Titus Corlatean deemed the cooperation between the countries significant, highlighting the importance of Serbia’s interest in energy projects. In addition, he stressed that he saw Serbia as the key factor in the Balkans, adding that Romania supported Serbia’s European integration process. He informed Deputy Speaker Novakovic that the Romanian Parliament’s Senate is expected to ratify the Stabilisation and Association Agreement in the upcoming period.

The officials agreed that it was in both countries’ common interest to intensify the dialogue between Serbia and Romania in the near future.
