National Assembly Deputy Speaker Prof. Dr Vladimir Marinkovic Talks to Armenian Foreign Minister
National Assembly Deputy Speaker Prof. Dr Vladimir Marinkovic met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Edward Nalbandian, at the National Assembly House.
Highlighting the two nations’ traditionally friendly relations, National Assembly Deputy Speaker Prof. Dr Vladimir Marinkovic thanked Armenia for its assistance in alleviating the impact of the recent floods in Serbia. Deputy Speaker Marinkovic pointed out that the economic cooperation between Serbia and Armenia should be improved, as should cooperation on encouraging and protecting investment, science, technology, transport and tourism.
Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian hopes that Serbia will support Armenia in international organisations, particularly as regards the Nagorno-Karabakh issue. To this Deputy Speaker Marinkovic responded that the National Assembly and its MPs urge that all open issues, the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh among them, be resolved peacefully in an international framework.
The meeting was also attended by the Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Armenia Aleksandar Cotric who thanked Armenia for its support of Serbia’s efforts to preserve its territorial integrity.
The officials agreed that there is room to further improve parliamentary cooperation between Serbia and Armenia, something which the parliamentary friendship groups will undoubtedly contribute to.
