National Assembly Deputy Speaker Konstantin Arsenovic Dies

National Assembly Deputy Speaker Konstantin Arsenovic died today, on 31 January, aged 76.


Konstantin Arsenovic was born on 3 June 1940 in the village of Gornje Koslje, Municipality of Ljubovija, Republic of Serbia.

He finished primary school, technical high school, Military Technical Academy, High Military Technical Academy, Command and Staff School and National Defence School.

He spent his ample working career in the Yugoslav National Army and Army of Yugoslavia from 1961-2000.

He performed various duties in the army, from secretarial to advisor to the Chief of the General Headquarters for Logistics.

He was the carrier and participant of the development and equipment of armament and military equipment – land-based artillery, drafting of regulations, instructions, rules and doctrinary documents for the needs of the army at the time.

He received numerous commendations, awards and medals for his work.

He finished his working career in 2000 as lieutenant colonel general.

He was one of the founders of the Party of United Pensioners of Serbia and Vice-President of the Party.

He was elected MP in the 2008–2012, 2012–2014 and 2014-2016 legislatures, and served as National Assembly Deputy Speaker in the previous two legislatures as well.

Konstantin Arsenovic will be interred at Bezanija cemetery on Saturday, 4 February, at 10.30 am.
