National Assembly Deputy Speaker Igor Becic Elected PABSEC Vice-President

At the 45th General Assembly, National Assembly Deputy Speaker Igor Becic, Head of the National Assembly’s standing delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC), was elected one of the organisation’s vice-presidents.


At the Spring Session in Chisinau, Moldova, 8-10 June 2015, the PABSEC General Assembly elected PABSEC vice-presidents, as well as the PABSEC Vice-President for Financial Matters. In addition to the Head of the National Assembly’s standing delegation Igor Becic, the heads of the delegations of Greece, Azerbaijan, Russia and Armenia were also elected vice-presidents to a three-year term of office.

In the course of the three-day session, the General Assembly deliberated on the proposal of the declaration on strengthening the status of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation and on the activity reports of the Legal and Political Affairs Committee, Cultural, Educational and Social Affairs Committee and the Economic, Commercial, Technological and Environmental Affairs Committee.

The report on “Role of new technologies in the development and strengthening of information society in the BCES member states”, presented by National Assembly delegation member Zoltan Pek as rapporteur for the PABSEC Economic, Commercial, Technological and Environmental Affairs Committee, was unanimously adopted.

On the last day of the PABSEC Spring Session, National Assembly Deputy Speaker Igor Becic signed the Declaration on the strengthening of the status of PABSEC. The Declaration highlights the importance and necessity of interaction between parliaments and governments, while determining the status of PABSEC and its transformation into an international parliamentary organisation, clears the way to the parliamentary organisation’s bigger political influence and better chances of joint activities within the Black Sea Economic Cooperation.

The 45th PABSEC General Assembly was hosted by the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, and the National Assembly’s delegation, headed by National Assembly Deputy Speaker Igor Becic, comprised delegation members Zoltan Pek, Miletic Mihajlovic and Bojan Kostres.
