Dr Dijana Vukomanovic greeted Montenegrin Parliament Speaker Ranko Krivokapic on the behalf of the delegation members and congratulated him on his election for OSCE PA President. She declared it a common success of the Balkan countries and opined that it marked a new era with new chances for the Western Balkan region. The recent election of Gordana Comic for rapporteur of the OSCE PA General Committee on Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Questions further contributes to the resolution of the region’s open issues, said Vukomanovic.

Montenegrin Parliament Speaker Ranko Krivokapic said that taking part in the OSCE PA’s work is an important tool for addressing regional issues, stressing that national delegations to the OSCE PA should concretize their cooperation and mentioning their cooperation on OSCE projects as a priority for future discussion.

Delegation members Gordana Comic and Meho Omerovic spoke of the opportunities for cooperation between the national delegations of Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia, drawing attention to the region’s common topics with a special focus on human rights.

Zoran Babic informed the participants on the National Assembly’s activities and priorities, drawing special attention to the strengthening of the supreme legislative body’s control function, drafting of the MPs’ code of codex and implementation of the e-Parliament system being conducted in cooperation with the OSCE.

The delegation members agreed to concretize future types of cooperation at the OSCE PA’s upcoming autumn meetings in Budva from 13 to 15 October, so that the parliamentarians might play a more active role in the activities of the OSCE system as a whole.
