National Assembly Delegation to European Union-Serbia Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee Visits Strasbourg

The fourth meeting of the European Union-Serbia Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee will be taking place on 7 and 8 October 2015, at the European Parliament seat in Strasbourg.


The topics to be discussed at the meeting with the EP members of the European Union-Serbia Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee will be the situation concerning the pre-accession talks and the relations between the European Union and Serbia, Serbia’s preparations for the opening of the negotiation chapters, dialogue on the normalisation of relations between Belgrade and Pristina, refugees crisis troubling Serbia and the EU member states, harmonisation of foreign and security policy, employment policy and reduction of public sector employment, protection of fundamental rights and freedoms, including media freedom and minority rights.

In the course of the two-day stay in Strasbourg, the National Assembly delegation will also meet with Emilian Pavel, Franc Bogovic, and other members of the EP informal group “Friends of Serbia”, as well as the EP Rapporteur for Serbia David McAllister. They will also attend the debate on the current situation in the European Union at the EP plenary session with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande.

At the end of the fourth meeting of the European Union-Serbia Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee, the members will discuss a proposal of joint recommendations, pursuant to Article 7 of the Parliamentary Committee Rules of Procedure and Article 125 of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement, adopted by majority vote of the members of both delegations and then forwarded to the Stabilisation and Association Council and the relevant institutions in Serbia and the European Union. The National Assembly delegation to the European Union-Serbia Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee visiting Strasbourg comprises the Chairman Dr Vladimir Orlic, members Dr Aleksandra Tomic, Veroljub Arsic, Prof. Dr Ljubisa Stojmirovic, Dragan Sormaz, Zoran Babic, Dr Dijana Vukomanovic, Vesna Marjanovic, Vera Paunovic, Dr Milorad Mijatovic and substitute members Dr Branislav Blazic, Vesna Markovic and Aleksandar Senic.
