National Assembly Delegation at Women in Parliament Global Forum Annual Summit in Brussels

MPs Dubravka Filipovski and Marija Obradovic represented the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia at the Women in Parliament global forum annual summit in Brussels, at the European Parliament, from 27 to 29 November 2013.

The summit was attended by 400 women parliamentarians from 93 countries who discussed how to overcome social inequalities, whether an increased participation of women in management could contribute to a more efficient social progress, whether women parliamentarians could be the bearers of change in the world and the role of women politicians in creating equal education and health care opportunities.
MP Marija Obradovic, as one of the panellists of the working group set up by the Inter-Parliamentary Union, informed the participants of the summit of the results achieved by and future activities of the Women’s Parliamentary Network of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia
“Serbia is an example of best practice in the implementation of the 30% quota for women in parliament. The participants of the summit accepted the way the women MPs of the National Assembly, who work together regardless of their party affiliation, are united in achieving the goals important for the improvement of the position of women in Serbia, as a positive networking model applicable in many parliaments”, opined MP Marija Obradovic.
The participation of the National Assembly delegation was financed by the OSCE Mission to Serbia.
