National Assembly Delegation at Session of UN Commission on the Status of Women

Deputy Speaker Snezana Paunovic headed the National Assembly delegation that included MPs Olivera Denic and Natasa Bogunovic to the Parliamentary Meeting, being held on the occasion of the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women, at the United Nations, organised by the IPU and UN-Women, in New York, USA, on March 11, 2025.

The theme of this year's Parliamentary Meeting is: "Parliaments and Beijing +30: Resisting the backlash and shifting paradigms towards gender equality".

This meeting, which brings together women leaders from around the world, provides a platform to examine the role of parliaments in advancing the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action on the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the latter. The meeting provides an opportunity for parliamentarians from around the world to mobilise against the backlash and to renew their commitment to developing, conducting and implementing policies and action plans for achieving gender equality and the fulfilment of rights and empowerment of women and girls. A particular focus is placed on shifting the paradigm towards equality in decision-making.

The participation of representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia at this high-level forum testifies to our country's firm commitment to promoting gender equality and empowering women, in accordance with the highest international standards.
