The Ιnter-Parliamentary Conference was set up with the aim of strengthening the role of national parliaments of the EU member states and the European Parliament in the context of inter-parliamentary cooperation. Serbia as a candidate country, has been taking part in the Conference since its foundation in 2012.
At the Conference in Riga, the parliamentarians are discussing the state of play of the European neighbourhood policy, better cooperation between the European Common Security and Defence Policy and NATO, redefining the Eastern partnership, new security challenges in Europe and the security threats in the southern Mediterranean and the Middle East.
At the margins of the Conference, Marija Obradovic met with the Chairman of the Croatian Parliament’s Defence Committee Tomislav Ivic to discuss the improvement of relations between the two countries and cooperation between the two defence committees.
