National Assembly Delegation at Inaugural Meeting of Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network

The members of the standing delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia to the Inter-Parliamentary Union Mladen Grujic and Dr Milorad Mijatovic, took part in the inaugural meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network on 28 November 2021, held on the sidelines of the 143rd IPU Assembly in Madrid. The meeting was chaired by Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker Sahiba Gafarova, as Azerbaijan is chairing the Non-Aligned Movement for the next two years.

The Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network will tackle current threats to peace, security and sustainable development, as well as key problems faced by the member states. Pursuant to the principles of the Non-Aligned Movement, adopted in Belgrade 60 years ago (1961), and the Final Document of the 18th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement of October 2019 – recognising the role parliamentarians can have in fulfilling the NAM principles, ideals and goals, the participants adopted the Madrid Declaration. The parliamentary dimension of NAM will contribute to the exchange of experiences aimed at attaining peace and security, human rights and development, as well as fostering cooperation among the parliament members of NAM countries. The next meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network will be held in 2022 in Baku.
