National Assembly Delegation Visits Museum of Chinese Communist Party

The parliamentary delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia visited the Museum of the Communist Party of China in Beijing today where they learned more about the history of the Chinese Communist Party and China’s modern history.

The museum is thematically divided into several units and it displays periods of modern Chinese history, from the struggle against European colonialism in the 19th century, through the period of the Party's history from 1921 to the creation of the People's Republic of China in 1949, all the way to contemporary Chinese history and the fight against the Coronavirus epidemic.

The Serbian parliamentarians were able to see rarities such as important manuscripts by Karl Marx, learn about the revolutionary work of Mao Zedong and the history of the Long March, as well as hear more about the fight against Japanese aggression in the late 1930s and the establishment of the People's Republic of China.

The museum display also contains elements from China’s recent history, such as the display of Deng Xiaoping's reforms, return of Hong Kong in 1997, the Olympic Games in 2008, as well as the modern era of China under President Xi.

The thematic section of the museum dedicated to the fight against the COVID pandemic, contains the sending of Chinese humanitarian aid to the world, including the presentation of the reception of Chinese aid in Serbia in 2021, which was also attended by President Vucic.

The head of the delegation of Serbian parliamentarians, National Assembly Deputy Speaker Marina Ragus, signed the Museum’s visitors’ book, in which she said that the Museum represents the strength and wisdom of the Chinese people, who, she pointed out, united under the leadership of the Communist Party, managed to overcome all difficulties and challenges and build a strong and prosperous state, based on the principles of equality, egalitarianism, patriotism, selfless commitment and dedication to peaceful development.

"It is a matter of special respect and admiration that in just one century since its creation in 1921, the Communist Party of China, founded by a small group - only a dozen enthusiasts, has today grown into one of the most powerful and largest parties in the world, with almost a hundred million members. Guided by the vision of building a libertarian, strong and justice-loving country, the Communist Party of China, with the goal of building socialism with Chinese characteristics, managed to overcome all adversities, defeat absolute poverty, resist attacks from outside and today rushes towards the realisation of the second hundred-year goal - building a modern prosperous socialist state in all aspects," wrote Ragus.

She expressed her belief that the Communist Party of China will continue to develop in the new millennium, for the benefit of the Chinese people, under the visionary leadership of the General Secretary of the Party and President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, following the lines of "Theoretical Thoughts on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era".

The parliamentary delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia is currently visiting Beijing where it took part in the 4th meeting of the Commission for Cooperation between the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress.
