National Assembly Delegation Visits Dutch Parliament

A delegation comprising members of the Foreign Affairs Committee and the European Integrations Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, paid a two-day official visit to the Netherlands, at the invitation of the Dutch Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee and European Affairs Committee.



A delegation comprising members of the Foreign Affairs Committee and the European Integrations Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, paid a two-day official visit to the Netherlands, at the invitation of the Dutch Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee and European Affairs Committee.

During the visit, the National Assembly delegation talked to representatives of the majority of political parties at the Dutch Parliament. The Serbian delegation had several meetings with high dignitaries of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs viz. Political Affairs Director-General Peter de Hyer, Director for Southeast and Eastern Europe Casper Veldkamp, as well as the coordinator of the Western Balkans Division, Ard van der Vorst.

The meetings focused on furthering relations between the two countries, particularly in the sphere of politics and economy, as well as culture and education. They also touched upon Serbia’s accession to the European Union and visa liberalisation for Serbia.

The National Assembly delegation members highlighted the importance of the relationship with the Kingdom of Holland and reminded the officials of Serbia’s strong determination to pursue European integration. They pointed out how important the continuity of the Euro-integration process is for Serbia, also mentioning that blocking the process is both detrimental and counterproductive. Therefore, they stressed the need for the Netherlands’ constructive position regarding support for Serbia and full implementation of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement.

The Serbian delegation emphasised Serbia’s full cooperation with The Hague Tribunal, adding that it was taking all steps necessary for the completion of said cooperation.

The delegation comprised Prof. Dr Dragoljub Micunovic, delegation head and Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Laszlo Varga, European Integrations Committee Chairman and deputies Donka Banovic, Nada Kolundzija, Natasa Vuckovic, Suzana Grubjesic, Branko Ruzic and Ivan Andric.
