NARS Speaker Talks to REKOM Coalition Representatives

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic met with the representatives of the REKOM Coalition – Natasa Kandic from the Humanitarian Law Fund, Dragan Pjevac from the Association of Families of Killed and Missing Serbs “Suza” from Croatia and Maja Micic, Director of the Youth Initiative for Human Rights - Serbia.



The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic met with the representatives of the REKOM Coalition – Natasa Kandic from the Humanitarian Law Fund, Dragan Pjevac from the Association of Families of Killed and Missing Serbs “Suza” from Croatia and Maja Micic, Director of the Youth Initiative for Human Rights - Serbia.

Ms. Kandic requested support for the initiative to found REKOM Coalition stressing that REKOM’s goal is to establish a unified register of all the killed and missing persons from the territory of former Yugoslavia in the period from 1991 to 2001. She added that all the political parties and institutions in Serbia, as well as in the other former SFRY countries, should understand that the foundation of such a Regional Commission is in everyone’s interest and that the whole truth would lead to a final reconciliation.

The NARS Speaker expressed full understanding and support of the idea to create a full register of all the victims stressing that time should not hide or forget any of the victims. “The institutions of the system of all the countries in the region and in Serbia should continue to do their job, and any assistance to REKOM whose findings could significantly contribute to the truth about the victims, can be nothing less than beneficial” – stressed Djukic-Dejanovic.
