The meeting was attended by the NARS Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Dr Dragoljub Micunovic and Serbian Ambassador to the Netherlands H. E. Cedomir Radojkovic.

Djukic-Dejanovic and the guests agreed that furthering relations in the Balkans, and especially the efforts of the countries of the region to become EU members, are extremely important for the stability not only of this part of Europe, but the stability of the whole European continent. The Speaker emphasised the efforts made by the NARS to adopt the appropriate laws and acts from the so-called European agenda as soon as possible as well as ensure their proper implementation. Djukic-Dejanovic particularly focused on the issue of SAA ratification and improvement of interparliamentary cooperation.

The Dutch parliamentary delegation members wanted to know the direction of the reform of Serbia’s electoral system and how many of the European Commission’s suggestions had been adopted, as well as the public attitude toward Serbia’s accession to the European Union.

Djukic-Dejanovic stated: “The percentages on how realistic the public is may vary. But the fact is, we cannot be go back – we have begun to standardize the laws, the youth is interested in Europe and we shall not lack patience, but no relation is one-directional.”

The Dutch side also spoke of the upcoming visit by the Hague Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz. The Speaker said that, based on the EU requirements and the special laws adopted by the Assembly, Serbia is making exceptional efforts to establish the best and most efficient cooperation with the Hague Tribunal.
