Marina Ragus at American Israel Public Affairs Committee Congressional Summit

National Assembly Deputy Speaker and Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Marina Ragus, participated in this year's Congressional Summit of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).

The main participants of the meeting were the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, the Republican leader in the Senate, John Thune, the Democratic leader in the Senate, Chuck Schumer, and the Democratic leader in the House of Representatives, Hakeem Jeffries, as well as a large number of other senators and congressmen and senior political advisors. The Summit also featured Eric Trager, the director for the Middle East and North Africa of the White House National Security Council, and Israeli officials included Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Prime Minister Yair Lapid. The main topics of the summit were regional security in the Middle East and the Middle East during the Trump administration and Congress.

Marina Ragus stressed that "it is good that the Serbian delegation was present at this very important meeting that brought together a large number of senators and congressmen" and added that "we were met with understanding for our positions and support for further improvement of relations with the USA and Israel by our hosts in the Senate and Congress. We particularly drew attention to the violation of human rights and the difficult conditions in which Serbs live in Kosovo-Metohija and stressed the necessity of forming the Community of Serb Municipalities". Also, "we appealed to the officials to do whatever they can to free our citizen Alon Ohel, who is being held hostage by Hamas in serious health condition" - Ragus stressed.

This gathering was attended by over two thousand Committee activists from all over America and about fifty guests from abroad.
