Legislative Committee Representatives Visit Croatian Sabor
A delegation of the National Assembly’s Legislative Committee spent 21 and 22 March in a return visit to the Legislation Committee and Judiciary Committee of the Croatian Sabor (Parliament).
In the course of the two-day visit to the Legislation Committee and Judiciary Committee of the Croatian Sabor, the Chairman of the National Assembly’s Legislative Committee Vlatko Ratkovic and Committee members Srdjan Mikovic and Mirko Cikiriz met with Sabor officials, Secretary and representatives of the support service, representatives of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Croatia, Supreme Court of the Republic of Croatia and State Judiciary Council.
The Chairperson of the Legislation Committee Ingrid Anticevic Marinovic, Chairperson of the Judiciary Committee Josip Kregar and the members of both committees had professional meetings with the National Assembly’s delegation. The delegation was also addressed by the Croatian Parliament’s Deputy Speaker and Chairperson of the Committee on the Constitution, Standing Orders and Political System Josip Leko. The meetings revolved around the deliberation procedure of laws and other documents as regards their compliance with the Constitution and legal system, establishment of a legal system and operation of the judiciary in the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Croatia.
In the meetings attended by the representatives of the committees’ support services the participants exchanged experiences relating to uniform legislative methodology, authentic interpretations of laws, consolidated legal texts and other issues important for a uniform legal and technical (nomotechnical) processing of documents adopted by the National Assembly and Croatian Sabor.
The President of the Constitutional Court Jasna Omejec briefed the guests on the legal aspects of the relationship between the Croatian Parliament and Constitutional Court of the Republic of Croatia.
At the Supreme Court of the Republic of Croatia the delegation members spoke to Ana Garacic, Vice President of the Supreme Court and Ranko Marjan, Supreme Court judge and President of the State Judiciary Council who briefed them on the work of the judiciary authorities and judicial appointment procedure in the Republic of Croatia.
