Justice and Administration Committee visits Belgrade District Prison

On 31 August, the Justice and Administration Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia paid a visit to the Belgrade District Prison.


On 31 August, the Justice and Administration Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia paid a visit to the Belgrade District Prison. The visit was aimed at acquainting Committee members with the conditions and the functioning of the institution, and especially of its security system.

After the tour, journalists were addressed by the Committee’s chairman, Jovan Palalic, the Minister of Justice, Zoran Stojkovic, the director of the Correctional Facilities Directorate, Dragoljub Loncarevic, and the head of the District Prison, Miroljub Micic. The officials said that security in the facility was very high, and that procedures in dealing with detainees were very strictly defined. Committee members were acquainted with problems in the work of employees of the District Prison, caused mostly by poor financial conditions.
