Ivica Dacic Receives Letters of Congratulations on Election for National Assembly Speaker

Ivica Dacic received numerous congratulatory notes on his election to the post of Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia. The newly-elected National Assembly Speaker received congratulations from the Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Song Tao, President of the Hellenic Parliament Constantin An. Tassoulas, Special Representative of the UNMIK Secretary General Zahir Tanin and Apostolic Nuncio Luciano Suriani.


“Allow me, on behalf of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and on my own behalf, to extend our sincerest congratulations and good wishes on your election for Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia. The traditional friendship between China and Serbia is deep and becoming stronger over time.

In recent years, under the strategic leadership and personal commitment of the presidents of our two countries, the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Serbia has entered a new period of strong development. The two countries consistently support each other to follow a path of development that suits the situation of the countries, strongly support the preservation of the sovereignty, security and developmental interests of the other country, making an important contribution to building a new model of international relations and building a Community of the common future of humanity," says the letter of congratulations of the Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

As the Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Song Tao pointed out, Ivica Dacic's visit in February of this year, at a time when the Chinese people were fighting the epidemic, is an act of strong support for China and confirmation of friendship with the Chinese people.

On behalf of the members of the Hellenic Parliament and on his own behalf, Konstantin An. Tasulas expressed congratulated Ivica Dacic on his election as Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and wished him much success in his new post.

"I am convinced that in fulfilling this high position, you will make a significant contribution to strengthening the role of the National Assembly as protector of democratic values, the rule of law and human rights. I want to assure you that, due to the excellent relations between our peoples and countries, the Hellenic Parliament will remain committed to strengthening our parliamentary cooperation and the development of bilateral relations", said the President of the Hellenic Parliament.

In his letter congratulating Ivica Dacic on his election as Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, the Special Representative of the UNMIK Secretary General Zahir Tanin said he had no doubt that Mr. Dacic’s personal and professional commitment to stability in the Balkan region would continue in his new role, as well as the longstanding close relations with the United Nations and its officials.

“On behalf of UNMIK, I wish to express appreciation for the support you were able to extend to our mission and our mandate during recent years, with significant contributions to progress. I look forward to the continuation of our very productive and enjoyable working relations. Our office in Belgrade, UNOB, will continue to be at your disposal, and will remain in contact with your senior staff as appropriate.”

Finally, Zahir Tanin took the opportunity to extend his personal gratitude for Mr. Dacic’s trust and for demonstrated commitment to upholding the role of the United Nations during his tenure at the helm of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Apostolic Nuncio Luciano Suriani, extended the warmest congratulations to Ivica Dacic on his election as National Assembly Speaker, adding that his appointment as the Speaker of the highest legislative body is a clear sign of the respect and trust many have in him and his ability to take on high public office.

"The historical moment that our country, Europe and the world are experiencing is special, of course, due to the corona virus pandemic. I believe that there are numerous motives not to disregard the hopes of the citizens and to work with even greater commitment for the common good and humane, social and economic progress of the entire Serbian people. Diversity and differences should encourage those who have the responsibility to govern to make wise and farsighted decisions, which will benefit a real and wholesome well-being of all citizens. The wisdom of the Gospels and the folk wisdom teach us that there is strength in unity.

Excellency, I take this opportunity to thank you, from the heart, for your friendship, which had marked our relationship, both official and personal, since our first meeting, and with it I congratulate you once again and wish you success, with my prayers for you and your associates ", said the Apostolic Nuncio in his letter of congratulations to the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic.
