The officials were very pleased that the highly developed political and economic cooperation between the two countries is accompanied by excellent cooperation in the field of defence. They stressed that said cooperation was crowned by Serbia and Italy’s joint participation in multinational operations, particularly in the UN Mission in Lebanon. Deputy Speaker Becic also thanked Italy for the professional engagement of its armed forces in the KFOR Mission.

National Assembly Deputy Speaker MA Igor Becic and Italian Defence Minister Roberta Pinotti also discussed modern security challenges and terrorism threats, agreeing that there is room there to boost defence cooperation since the countries need to act jointly in the matter.

The National Assembly Deputy Speaker also thanked Italy for its support of Serbia’s Euro-integration, while the Italian Defence Minister stressed that Serbia’s EU accession is to the mutual benefit of both Serbia and Italy.
