Interethnic Relations Committee Members Talk to Bosnian National Minorities Council Delegation

A study delegation of the Council of National Minorities of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, headed by the Council Chair Nedzad Jusic, met today at the National Assembly House with the members of the Committee on Interethnic Relations.



A study delegation of the Council of National Minorities of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, headed by the Council Chair Nedzad Jusic, met today at the National Assembly House with the members of the Committee on Interethnic Relations.

The Committee members briefed the Council delegation on the legal regulations ensuring and protecting the rights and freedoms of ethnic minorities in the Republic of Serbia, as well as the practice and experiences in the direct exercise of minority rights in the Republic of Serbia. Committee Chairman Miletic Mihajlovic presented the work of the Committee on Interethnic Relations and the twenty national councils operating in the Republic of Serbia.

Council Chair Jusic thanked the Committee members for the information and sharing Serbia’s experiences in the process of enacting the legislation to regulate and define the rights of ethnic minorities in the Republic of Serbia. He briefed the participants on the work of the Council of National Minorities, established in 2008, adding that Bosnia and Herzegovina recognises seventeen ethnic minorities.

In the talk with the Council members, it was deemed that such meetings and cooperation are mutually beneficial and that Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina share a common goal – establishing long-term parliamentary relations.

In addition to Committee Chairman Miletic Mihajlovic, the meeting was attended by Zeljko Tomic, Konstantin Arsenovic, Jovan Damjanovic, Gabor Lodi, Vitomir Mihajlovic, Sulejman Spaho, Zoran Petrov and Bajram Sehovic.
