The officials agreed that the interparliamentary cooperation between the two countries was at an admirable level during the previous legislature, especially with the European Integration Committee and Foreign Affairs Committee, and that they would strive to keep up the intensity of close cooperation in the future. They stressed that the two countries maintain excellent bilateral relations and mutually compatible policies, a level of closeness reflected in the numbers of MPs of Hungarian nationality in the National Assembly. Galantai asked about the establishment of a Parliamentary Friendship Group with Hungary and the possible initiative for a visit of Hungarian MPs to Belgrade, stressing that it has been almost two years since the last one owing to the elections held in both countries.

Martinovic said that the composition of parliamentary friendship groups will be established by the end of the month, adding that the Republic of Hungary’s experience in European integration, as well as economy, is invaluable to Serbia and that he was quite pleased by the opening of new Hungarian factories in the Republic of Serbia. The officials also spoke about the Hungary-Serbia mixed commission for cooperation which is to meet next in Nis.

Galantai stressed that the Republic of Hungary is fully supporting Serbia’s Euro-integration saying that the Minister without portfolio responsible for European Integration was delegated an associate by the Republic of Hungary. The Secretary also had questions about the relations between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Croatia to which Martinovic responded that the Republic of Serbia stands for peace, political stability and good economic relations and that the past should not be an obstacle to future cooperation.
